New EU Regulation on Radio Equipment Labeling

Manufacturers on the way to make radio equipment available on the EU market shall take notice of the newly adopted European Commission regulation (EU) 2017/1354, which specifies how to present the information stipulated in Article 10(10) of Directive 2014/53/EU. It applies exclusively to radio equipment which is subject to restrictions on putting into service or to requirements for authorization of use in at least one Member State. 


The information in question concerns the identification of the Member States (or the geographical area within a Member State) where restrictions on putting into service or requirements for authorization of use exist. 


Below is how this information shall be presented on the packaging of the radio equipment and in its accompanying instructions: 

The packaging shall indicate visibly and legibly: 

(a) either a pictogram, in the form of a table, with this particular sign: (see PDF version) 

(b) or the words "Restrictions or Requirements in"* followed by the abbreviations^ of the Member States where such restrictions or requirements exist.
